Resealing of Grants, and Non-Commonwealth (Ancillary) Grants
If your loved one held property or assets in Trinidad & Tobago and a grant of probate or letters of administration has already been issued in a Commonwealth jurisdiction — such as the UK or Canada — that grant can usually be resealed here, extending its effect to Trinidad & Tobago without a fresh application. Where the original grant was issued in a non-Commonwealth jurisdiction, such as the United States, resealing is not available and a fresh, ancillary grant must instead be obtained directly from the Trinidad & Tobago courts. We handle both routes.
What You’ll Need
- A certified copy of the death certificate
- The original grant, or a certified copy of the grant of probate or letters of administration
- A copy of the will, if one exists
- A schedule of the assets held in Trinidad & Tobago
